Open Weekend

We actually had an open weekend, first that we have had in what seems like over a month. The flood waters have gone down on a consistent basis since last weekend, but the city is now waiting for another supposed high crest in a couple of weeks. The new fore casted crest would be the typical time for a spring flood. The smart guys are saying over 41'. Personally I am doubtful - more to come.
Cooler with a strong NW wind today which meant that we did what we like to call an "urban assault" which is a longer ride running from one end of the city to the next - usually 20+ miles.
The photo above is of Rick Laliberte riding next to a big time contingency dike down in south Fargo at Harwood Groves. There are some monster homes down here on the wrong side of the dike. It is going to be a long time before things get back to normal.
South River Drive. Note the walkways that the city has built to allow the homeowners to get over the dike.
Rolling north into the wind, Craig Lemieux's LH crank arm fell off. We did not have the tools to repair on the street so Rick pulled Craig to my Dad's house about 5 blocks away. It turned out that Craig's bottom bracket was stripped out so the bolt would not hold. I dug through my Dad's arsenal of stuff and jury rigged with a slightly over sized bolt to keep Craig going.
We almost made it, but my fix did not hold. Craig ended up one footing all the way up 3rd street home. We had phones and the opportunity to snag a ride, but it always seems better to get back on your own power.
Goofing around with Ben. It looks worse then it actually was. Benny was laughing super hard, I promise, his eyes only watered a little bit.
Red Lodge Mountain is getting dumped with snow! Guess where we are going?
