RLM

With the flood and our busy schedule this spring, we were leaving things open for our annual spring vacation. With the ski reports from Red Lodge Mountain showing big dumps of snow the last 10 days, it was easy to make up our minds. Over 80" of snow had fallen at RLM since the first of April - sweet. We left Fargo Thursday morning for an easy drive west.
9 hours later we arrived in Red Lodge. Great town with lots of deer strolling all over the place.
Matt getting ready for the day. 18" of snow overnight at the upper elevations. The temperatures from the start were above freezing with light wind.
Looking down from the Grizzly Peak lift. What a great day!
Matt and Ben hauling down Lazy M, one of the longest runs on the mountain. We hit every lift and hit almost every run.
The temperature at the top of Cole Creek lift - 50 degrees. There were some areas of the mountain that the snow was like mashed potatoes. Other areas were perfect powder up over your shins. We were not use to the powder, but learned fast. With the fresh snow and the warm temps, we have never had better conditions then today!
Kriston opted not to ski today and enjoyed sitting in the sun, reading her book and meeting a lot of people from all over the upper Midwest.
Spring in Red Lodge, flowers already blooming.
One of our favorite places to hang out - Sam's Tap Room, proprietors/brewers of Red Lodge Lager. The kids are welcome and the place is full of locals. We all have red faces from the sun pounding off of the snow. Overall excellent day with another full day in the works tomorrow.
