Another Storm Brewing

It has been a week since we received a foot of snow in the Fargo area and it has been a good week.  In my mind there is nothing better then making the adjustment from no snow to a fair amount of snow virtually over night.  Some changes were required for my bike commute to work, but overall things transitioned nicely.
We spent a quite Thanksgiving weekend together as a family.  Lots of good food, movies, being with friends, shopping and getting things done around the house.
On Thursday afternoon Matt, Ben and I had a spur of the moment road trip only a mile north of our house. There is a little chunk of woods just off of Broadway that we have visited before, but never in the winter.  We took Matt's Landcruiser as far as we could before a tree fall stopped us and then walked in the rest of the way.  At the end of the trail we started a big bon fire and cleaned up a bunch of wood that the floods brought in over the last couple of years.  Big fire and great un-planned time spent with my boys does not get any better.  We hung around for a couple of hours doing absolutely nothing but keeping the fire going and telling lies.
Saturday morning I made my way up to Maplelag with Craig and Pat Lemieux for the first time clicking into cross country skis of the season.  Jay Richard's had been working all week rolling and nurturing the new snow setting tracks on Saturday.  The tracks were marginal but a lot better then expected.
Jay taking a break from grooming out on the intersection of Rootin Tootin and Sukerbusk trails chatting away with Pat.  Jay does an unreal job of taking care of the snow.
Craig at the start of the Jib Fly trail.  What a beautiful morning.  We skied about an hour and fifteen minutes which was way more then enough for our first time.  By the end of the day Saturday my legs were screaming!  I run and bike a lot but pounding over an hour skiing the first time of the season is a whole new shock to my body - love it!

Another storm is brewing but it looks like more blow then snow which is a bummer.  Jay reported 4" of new snow at Maplelag which is a good thing.
Matt and Ben started the ND High School Swim Season today.  Our lives are now dictated by the swimming pool for the next four months.  In addition, as parents of a junior high swimmer Kriston and I are even more involved organizing the parents activities for the rest of the team....all good.
