Perfect Conditions

As posted earlier I had reported that my Dad had a bad heart attack the second week of January. After over a month of figuring things out, a second stay in the hospital and two weeks of doing nothing, he was finally out and about on Saturday. Matt, Ben and I picked Dad up and headed to West Acres. We set the goal of walking the complete distance between Herbergers and Sears. It did not matter how many times that he sat down in between to rest. Dad was none to happy with the idea, but stuck it out and got it done. We hauled his O2 along but he did not use it. Don't tell my Mom, but afterward we treated him to an ice cream cone that is supposedly off limits on his diet......go figure.
Headed up to Maplelag on Sunday and pre-skied the Lotvolla Cup course with Jake Richard's. I would say about 4" of fresh snow that covered the icy conditions from the week earlier quit nice. Jay did a great job of tilling and grooming which made for perfect conditions. After my long run Saturday morning, I was gassed chasing Jake around.
Looking down Suicide Hill which is part of the race course. Always a good place to catch a yard sale.
Jake gliding nicely on Sukkerbusk.
Justin Hegstad brought over his new Rivendell bike for some finishing touches prior to the maiden voyage. Extremely sweet frame. Ton's of detail! Justin ordered it 3-1/2 years ago and it finally showed up just before Christmas.
Justin is keeping it very retro including friction shifting. Lots of parts that are discontinued in the bike world but Justin has had plenty of time to peruse the Internet for old/new stock.
Phil Woods hubs and bottom bracket. It is my pleasure to work on a bike as sweet as this. When complete it will ride like a Cadillac! I will post more later as things get finalized.
