We left Fargo Friday afternoon to make sure that we got to Bismarck in time for the Hot Lap competition at the not sure what annual 10hr Race to Sunset mountain bike race. Matt and I have done this race 4 years in a row and always have a blast hanging out and riding our bikes all day.
This year we teamed up with Kent Throlson and Dan Seymour to make a strong team of 4. Ben came along as our support crew. As a team we take turns ripping a 3.8 mile single track mountain bike course. We go for 10 hours non stop and the winner being the team that turns the most laps throughout the event. Our team did not make the podium and I have yet to see the official results but regardless of the final outcome it was all good.
Lots of good people and a very well organized event. Over the years most of the Fargo riders have met most of the Bismarck riders and are to the point of making lasting relationships on and off the bike. ND is a small enough state population wise to allow that to happen.
Kent Throlson making his way through the course. Always good to see Kent and it was cool that he could make the road trip all the way from Mpls. Kent and I go way back and have been on a number of adventures.
Matt has earned and deserves the reputation as the strongest rider on the team. Consistent/fast times throughout the day with energy in reserve for the final push when the competition heats up towards the end.
Chad Weisgram on the left, Ben, Dan Seymour and Tom Heilman. Chad is a Cat 2 road racer and was hammering the course. Over 20 riders made the trip from Fargo.
Does not get any better then when you have a group of like minded mountain bikers hanging around all day. Perfect weather.
Thanks Ben for taking all of the photos.
Sunday June 12 was Matt's 17th birthday. Happy Birthday Matt!
Tomorrow is Kriston and my 25th wedding anniversary. I am blessed!
