Theo Wirth CX

Bike helmets back in the post this weekend. Matt, Jake Richard's and I headed downtown Minneapolis to Theo Wirth Park for the Sunday cyclocross race. Jake came to Fargo from Maplelag Saturday night as we left at 6 in the AM for a 10:45 C race start. Cool morning for sure which in my opinion makes it all the better. Benny was away all weekend at a church deal and Kriston was busy with a ton of other stuff which made for an active couple of days.
Matt has been acquiring parts for his new frame most of the summer. With Matt growing so fast he had to move up to a bigger bike this season. We purchased Pat Lemieux's frame from last year and his dad Craig's component group and finished the bike Friday night. Matt is set as his bike has the top of the line components and is very light.
Scott and Matt at the start of the C race. Huge C race field due to the race being close to down town. Matt said that his fingers were froze for the first three laps but when things warmed up he was flying. I have ridden mountain bike on the buffed out single track in the park a couple of summers ago, lots of acreage right in the middle of the city, very nice. The course was less then 5 minutes around but included a death march stair climb and a number of tight 180 degree turns. A little bit of everything mixed in.
You have to appreciate this photo......check out the saddle and the retro flame top tube....oh, the Budweiser sweater is cool too.
Missing Jake Richards in this photo, but team Maplelag was represented nicely.
Saw this sweeeeet Corvette ZR1 on the way home. This car costs in excess of 100K and is capable of over 180mph with 600hp! You can kind of see the acrylic cover over the supercharger on the hood. We actually passed this guy with the F150, slowed down when I noticed the car, let the guy pass while Matt was snapping photos. At first the guy must have thought that we were knuckleheads, but he gave us a big smile when he realized our appreciation.
Overall great race day. Matt reeled in a bunch of racers when he finally warmed up, Jake and I represented in the B race. Check out more photos and eventually the results on Skinnyski.com
