Thanksgiving Weekend

I have not posted in awhile mainly due to the fact that the race season is officially over and life has been steady as she goes for the last couple of weeks. The 4 day Thanksgiving weekend was a blast! We used a lot of the time to work on the house and get things even more ready for winter. Speaking of winter, where is it.....
I posted last summer that we had a little bit of a water problem caused by our central air conditioner that is stationed up in the rafters. Well, 5 months later I thought that it was about time to get after the final repairs. I had to cut out the bad sheet rock back to the rafters. This is a photo of what it looks like today. I spent some time up above replacing all of the bad insulation and assuring that this little incident does not happen again. I will do the taping of the seams myself but call in a professional to re-texture, what a mess.Since we were at it, the boys and I ripped into their basement bathroom. Things are getting old and worn out so we took it right down to the framing. Plans are to re-sheet rock and ceramic tile the whole deal including the shower. Kriston was happy to see that things were started. It will be a work in progress with our schedule, but the plan is to have it complete before the new year.Temporary sink to keep things operational during construction. Matt and Ben like how it looks now and want to stop where we are. Ok with me, but that will not fly for even a second.....

We took advantage of a sunny Sunday afternoon and headed out to Buffalo River State Park for a hike out on the prairie. The photo above is actually a big bowl that always has a deer or two hanging around. We saw a nice doe jump up and head towards the river. Matt, Ben and Piper the dog are all in the picture. Piper has more fun on these outings then we do, when we get home she eats quick, drinks a lot of water and is out for the night.
Once you make it to the first big limb, smooth sailing going as high as you have the nerve to go.
Busy beaver doing what they do best. Huge wood chips always amaze me how resourceful these guys are and how much damage they do but a everyone needs to eat.....
The stump is in the background, the trunk is in sections ready for dinner.
Another section of the trunk with the bark/dinner done and gone with the leftovers floating down the river.

Benny with a machete? - don't show this photo to the Park Rangers. In all honesty, a little brush cutting and stump whacking was the maximum damage allowed.
